Usually, he best moisturizers are the ones that target specific skin conditions.  Baby lotion, for example, is an excellent lotion to use for your body, feet, and hands. It’s super moisturizing and extra gentle for sensitive skin. 

The popular strong scented perfumes from Victoria’s Secret or Bath & Body don’t quite do it for me anymore. Sure, they smell great and all but after 10 minutes, my skin’s dry again! I love Curel Intensive Lotion too but the smell isn’t girly enough. 

So I’ve finally found 2 lotions that I love and that smell great. They’re called “After Sun” lotions and they’re not ONLY extra hydrating but they’re affordable as well. 

1. Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturizer – 8/10 stars

This lotion is awesome because for about $8-9, you get 16 oz of good stuff! It’s so moisturizing and it smells great! Like a coconut lime smell…it’s so yum! And not only that, but it’s great for irritated skin so if you get itchy after shaving or tanning (like I do) then this doubles as a skin healer. I can’t get enough of this lotion and use it everyday!

2. Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Creme Lotion – 9/10 stars

This is an amaaaazing lotion! If you’re looking for an secondhand lotion to use on extra-dry days, this is a good one to have! You can even use it for traveling or if you want to bring something to the beach. The can reminds me of mousse or a foam dispenser, but instead, lotion comes out, which is nice and neat. It’s SUPER DUPER moisturizing and I would love to use this everyday if it wasn’t like $10 for a 6oz bottle. I still use it for those days I need extra care, but for an everyday lotion, it might be a little expensive in the long run. (I use a lot of lotion daily!)

3. Sally Hansen Spray On Shower Off Foam- 9/10 stars

I have been a faithful Nair user but lotion is just too messy and stinky. I want something fast and mess-free. I spray this one really thoroughly with thick amounts. Make sure the shower is not on. You want your skin to be completely dry because any kind of moisture will make it run down your leg. 

You leave it on for about 5 minutes and go in the shower and rinse it off. You don’t need a towel or loofah to scrub it off; it literally wipes off in seconds. It lasts waaaay longer than shaving and I’m surprised but it took off every single hair! I am in love with this product!

Let me walk you through the different levels; at least from my perspective.

LEVEL 1 – NO MAINTENANCE

These are the people who don’t feel the need to get ready. Getting ready is either a nuisance or an unnecessary task. They see no point in getting ready for everyday activities like going to school, going to work, etc. They can wake up and literally be dressed and out the door in 10 minutes! Mani and Pedi? That’s uncalled for; it’s so useless to them! The good thing about “no maintenance” people is simplicity. It can sometimes be a huge ordeal to pamper one’s self, so it would be nice to just leave the house without a care about your appearance. Also, some people are really lucky and don’t even need maintenance. The bad side is when they become too comfortable and might even get too lazy to shower or even brush their teeth. (I knew people like this! Yikes!)

LEVEL 2 – LOW MAINTENANCE

Low maintenance people do a little more but they still like to keep things simple. They are minimalists and do as little as they possibly can. They don’t need to go above and beyond; they just need to look decent. This can be a guy who keeps his hair as short as possible to prevent maintenance, or it can be a girl that combs out her tangles in the morning and leave the house without styling her hair or wearing much makeup. This is also nice because a girl can just throw her hair in a bun or ponytail, put on some powder, leave the house in jeans and a tshirt and still rock the casual look. A lot of girls, I’ve noticed, pull off the “low maintenance” look pretty well; especially at the gym!

LEVEL 3 – SEMI HIGH-MAINTENANCE

These are the girls (like me) who constantly check their makeup in the mirror, do their hair, shop for outfits, and of course pamper themselves with pedicures, trips to the spa, tanning, etc. I would usually consider this high-maintenance but the thing that separates this category from high maintenance is that we would only go so far to maintain our looks. It’s not an everyday thing…sometimes you’ll catch us in ripped jeans and a casual tee…except it might be with high heels too! I find this category to be a mixture between casual and “dolled-up.”

LEVEL 4 – HIGH MAINTENANCE QUEENS

I have seen the most high maintenance girls that make me feel like I’m low maintenance! I’ve seen girls that spend time doing their hair everyday or go to a salon to get their hair styled few times a week. These girls are usually willing to shell out money for surgical procedures like breast implants or nose jobs. They would consider botox or hundreds of dollars worth of creams and ointments to keep their skin looking young and refreshed. These are the kinds of girls that you will NEVER catch without makeup, undone hair, or in sweats. And if they are in sweats, it’s probably Juicy Couture or some type of velour sweats. I call these girls the true  high maintenance queens! I always thought I was high maintenance but I am nowhere near it!

Very recently, I started a job and on my first day, I had to plaster advertisments around the building. I didn’t really know where things went since it was my first day and I was extremely nervous since I wanted to make a great impression on the manager.

There was a custodian sweeping the floor in the building and he saw me standing in confusion, thinking about the perfect placement for the ads. (I’m quite a perfectionist at my jobs so I understand that it might baffle people to see me standing there for a good minute, staring at the wall) 

He had a very friendly demeanor but on the other hand, he also seemed a little “off,” in his facial expressions. For example: His question sounded very friendly, yet his entire face was grimaced. (Not a very appealing expression if you ask me.)

He laughed and asked,

“Do you need help Miss? You look sorta confused.”

I proceeded to say,

“Well, I’m looking for a good spot to put the ads and I’m not quite sure where it looks best. [laugh] It’s my first day so I want it to be perfect.”

I didn’t expect him to help me. I didn’t want sympathy and I wasn’t trying to pull a damsel in distress act. What I wanted for him to do is what I expect any normal person to do. Laugh, walk away, and leave me be. But instead, he grabbed the ads, put them in a random spot, and before walking away, he added:

“Wow, you ARE a girl. It’s the easiest task, yet you make it hard.”

First of all, I can take a joke. I’m pretty good at reading people, and if he laughed at the end, did a little friendly hand gesture, or even if he said it in a joking manner, I would still be offended but I would not let it affect me. This guy said it and looked at me with narrowed eyes like he truly religiously believed it. He was DEAD SERIOUS.

Plus I’m not stupid. I can read between the lines and sense his underlying tone. I’m not mad that he practically insulted me, but I’m mad at him insinuating that all females are stupid. 
People like him constantly surprise me with their idiocy. The fact that he was using “females” as a metaphor for “stupidity” just irks me. He said it as if they go hand in hand.

I looked at him, rolled my eyes and walked away. I was so worried about my job that for a quick second, I excused it. But you know if I could turn back time, you know what I would’ve told him?

“Um…yeah I am a girl. And wow, you ARE an idiot. Opening your mouth when nothing useful really comes out.”

If only, if only…

This sexism needs to die, seriously. Some of the beliefs that still exist in this world just amaze me.

Here is an outfit I put together. I like things a little off and mismatched so the top is just perfect!

NOTE: That’s Andrea’s (my roommate) bed behind me. I can’t angle my camera to face my side of the room since it’s in a weird corner. =/ One day I’ll put up pics of my side! haha

The shoes are really cute because I’m not the kind of person who can sport full on gladiator shoes, so these shoes have a touch of gladiator but it’s not overwhelming.

The shoes are from TJ Maxx, the top is a random top from a boutique in Downtown L.A., and the skirt is from Forever 21! The whole outfit costs about $35! =) I love bargain shopping!

Follow me! I am constantly updating it and I promise to include some deals and specials from when I go shopping! I love having it on the website because even when I’m not blogging, I’m still updating! Would be cool if I could set up a cam thing where I can just picture message it and update my cam automatically. Hmm…wonder if that’s possible. I’ll find out! lol

I just went to LA and had fun shopping in Melrose, Burbank, and just the general LA area. I played with my sister’s yorkies: Prince & Coco! They are so adorable!

I’m excited because I’m going to Disneyland again this next weekend. I have to remember to bring a camera this time so I can take my own pics!

My Oh My, I have changed. It’s always fun to look back at your high school pics and laugh to see how much you’ve changed. I used to go for that dark lipliner look too! Yeck!

You know what’s weird? I can’t believe it’s even possible but if you look at the pictures, I used to have really dark brown, almost black eyes but if you look at my newer pictures (the one on the top right) the color has definitely lightened in recent years. It’s more of a medium-light brown. Almost everyone in my family has hazel or green eyes so I hope mine will get lighter in the future!

haha but If I find some more, I’ll def. post them up.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW IPAD COMING OUT? It’s amazing and so cool. I really didn’t want to research it because knowing Apple, they have a way of sucking you in. They’re just so damn good at it.

But my friend couldn’t stop raving about it so I just had to look it up. It looks like a large Iphone or Ipod Touch and is packed with features like Safari, Youtube, Mail, Photo, Video, etc. Kind of all your basic features. It’s purely touch screen but because the screen is bigger than a phone or ipod, it looks very easy to type on. Check it out for yourself on the Apple website. It’s thin, sleek, very handy (about the size of a standard magazine) and best of all, it’s only $500! I actually think that’s a pretty good deal since it has nearly all the standard features a computer or laptop has. I didn’t think I would want something that didn’t have a keyboard (100% touch screen scares me) but it looks so handy that I’m very excited to hear more about it!

I looked it up on the Apple website and the most appealing feature is their new iBooks feature which allows you to download books and read it on the screen with options to adjust the lighting, font, and format while you’re on the page. Every time you turn the page, the page actually turns and you see the animation! I like how all your books are stored on a bookshelf. It makes you more excited to read because of all the vivid colors and animations.

It’s when you continue collecting and find it hard to toss even one item out, even until the items pile up. It’s definitely a disorder that can handicap your life. Some people, like Lindsay Lohan, like to shop so frequently that their entire house looks like a swap meet, and not in a good way! 

The show focuses on an elderly lady who has so much junk piled up in her house, she actually bought the house next door to fill up with more crap! Her house became too overwhelming that she couldn’t invite people over anymore and she could barely walk. Her daughters are aware of the situation but they accept it as if it’s just a minor quirk. 

The ladies all go out together every weekend and as a bonding experience, they shop. Shop for clothes, jewelry, makeup, perfume, etc. They all love shopping with one another and it started to become an expected hobby.

One of the daughters pointed out that instead of having a hobby where they are bringing stuff in, why not have a hobby where you can bring stuff out?

It really made me think about my own personal quirks and whether I too, am a hoarder. I do love shopping and seem to like collecting a lot of things. My rooms do tend to be on the messier side not because I’m a person that is used to clutter, but more because I don’t have room to put all my stuff and excessive clothing. 

So the answer is no, I don’t think I’m a hoarder. I give all my unneeded clothes to my cousins and to people who can’t afford more clothing. I try to have garage sales online and in person, so I can get rid of as much stuff as I can. I definitely want to start a yard sale in the near future and just sell everything for like 25 cents to a dollar each item. I just want to get rid of all my clothes as fast as possible!

So I went shopping today with my roommate and I saw a little boutique that I love going to with my sisters! I tried on a few outfits and I literally wanted to buy all of them! (I’m a spontaneous shopper sometimes) But after thinking it through in the dressing room, I realized, I don’t need the clothes and as much as I love them, I don’t need them. We left the mall and I was empty-handed. I was very proud of myself and so was my roommate, knowing how much of a crazy shopper I am.

Then I started thinking about my closet and all my clothes. There are a few essential tops like the basic spaghetti strap and tank tops that you can layer or wear under any outfit. Then you have the few sweaters and jackets that go with any outfits or for any occasions. And of course,there are the outfits you can only wear once, that you will never wear again, and that you will probably have sitting in your closet ’til the end of time and before you know it, you forget all about it. Well, I’m trying to shop only for clothes that are versatile and that I can wear over and over again without worrying a button popping off or the lace ripping.

So basically, I’m going to be a smarter shopper from now on and not just a spur-of-the-moment shopper. It’s good to have only a few good clothes and just mix and match. Sometimes it’s fun with certain accessories and shoes. A hoarder is far from the kind of person I want to be. I don’t want to be an extreme consumer because in the end, your items will consume you. You need to have a moderate outlook on shopping because shopping in excess can really drive you crazy in the long run.
